Start Up / Login Problems
I recently installed Norton Firewall 2003 on my system,
after the installation was finished I was prompted to
restart my system. My computer came back on, momintarily
flashed my desktop then logged me out, and took me back
to the welcome screen. I clicked on my profile name and
it flashed to my desktop then logged me off again. I
tried to bypass it in safe mode, no luck there either. I
am the only user of the computer so there is no other
profile for me to log into and try to fix the problem. I
was going to reinstall windows on top of itself and hope
it would fix my problem, but I found my disc was
obviously crushed by something and is nearly cracked in
half. So what should I do? Is there any other way to boot
into my profile and try to fix the problem?

You could try Advanced Menu "Last ....Good" by pressing F8 during startup as before to enter Safe Mode.
Probably won't work , you could also try Debug mode.
If you can't find a solution you could Windows Repair from XP CD.
Set BIOS to boot from CD-ROM as 1st Device by pressing F2 during startup.
Start Install then press R for Repair not the 1st R for Recovery Console.
If you use Repair you will have to download the Windows Updates again including SP1a.
