Can you give some more information please.  That is not enough to tell us what may be wrong

Did you just install any program, update any drivers or make any changes at all?

When do you get the black screen?  Is is before/after the Dell splashscreen or after the Welcome log on screen?

Have you tried Safe Mode?  Can you access anything from there?

If you get an error message please post the whole message

Also some system specs please

Have you got SP2?

Well if this happened after updating the driver for it, boot into Safe Mode and go to Device Manager and "Roll Back" the driver to the previous version which worked.

Well, that is strange.  If you updated the driver you should be able to roll back to the old one.

Go to the manufacturers site and find the latest driver.  Download it and install it even if it is the same as you already have. You will have it on the hard drive to install this time.

First check that the card is seated properly in the slot

It means that there is still something wrong with either the video card driver or the card itself. It can sometimes even be the monitor to blame.

Have you got another video card to try since you have had no luck with the driver

Is Device Manager not showing any "Yellow" errors?

Since you can use Safe Mode it is not the boot files.

In Safe Mode have you tried
Last Known Good Config
OR System Restore.

Another thing to try is unplug everything not necessary including cards (Not the graphics card) and try to boot up
