I'm really sorry but your message is a little confusing. Can you explain what you mean by "it came up dated June 8, 2003 date sys was installed by Dell."?
I can't address your particular error message, but it sounds like something a fresh installation of ME would cure. While I'm not necessarily recommending that to resolve the problem, I can tell you that you can download the necessary files for a fully functional ME boot disk by clicking on the link below. Select Windows ME OEM and download the file. Put a formatted floppy in the drive, and double click the downloaded file to commence the boot disk setup. Once completed, you should have a proper boot diskette for WinME.
Yes, what I meant was that when I run start. search and type in that file it comes up in the file I mentioned on C drive: The file is there dated June 8, 2001, the date Dell put my system together and I received sys on June 15, 2001. the file is on my system but i get the error msg as stated when I try to create a startup discl
I have a continuation of this problem. I too had the missing file issue when creating the boot disk and the site you directed me to worked well. However, after skipping past the missing files on the first procedure, I was prompted to enter a new disk to create the ME startup disk. When it got about halfway done I got a new error message that the computer could not read c:\WINEBD0.400\EBD\IO.sys. There is no such directory. I do not then have the opportunity to look for the file, it just cancels me out. What can I do next?
hi, when i press create disk i get a box "The file 'aspi2dos.sys' was not found.
Windows needs the disk labeled 'Windows Milennium Edition' to continue. This disk may be provided by your computer or device manufacturer.
Underneath that is Copy files from:.......
The usual place for the files is C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\INSTALL (if this path is not correct the files will not be found). If the path is not correct it can be corrected by typing in the correct path exactly.
I put in a different path because i moved the files.
You might need the cd if the files were not installed or deleted. Sometimes the files are not installed if the drive is too small.
Or you could try putting your WINDOWS ME disk into your cd drive.
the c:\WINEBD0.400 is a very temporary folder the system creates to make the startup disk. it is immediately deleted once the startup disk is created. If you want to see it click create disk then go into your c drive and right under Windows the folder will be listed.
