Startup Trouble
Ok here is the problem...after I start my computer...which starts just fine..but after being on for a while it will let me open the start menu, but it will not let me open any of the programs. I can also access my desktop, but it won't let me click on any of the programs. It is like they just stop responding. In order to start a program I either have to restart my computer, or CTRL ALT DLT and when the Task menu comes up, click on New Task and go through and find the program I wanted to use. The shortcuts stop responding I guess...
Problem #2...
I HATE IE. I would rather use the MSN browser, but can't figure out how to make it the default on my computer. Is there a way for me completely unistall IE without it hurting my system?
Thanks so much to whoever responds!!

You posted earlier with a reference to cnbabe. Did you download and run either of the spyware programs recommended by ChrisRLG in response to that post? The performance you describe can be attibuted to low resources in Windows 9X systems but if you are using Windows XP, as I believe you probably are, the decline in performance is probably due to something unwanted running in the background of your system.
You cannot uninstall Internet Explorer. You may be able to select the MSN browser using the procedure given by starman99.

For the average user I would not recommend uninstalling IE. Some of its components are used for other things.
I don't know anything about MSN browser but you need to make that the default and to get IE to check if it's the default browser (tools, internet options, programs, checkbox at bottom). Changing from IE is always problematic.
If you suspect your shortcuts are not working, right-click on the link you are trying to run. Select properties and look at the path to see if it makes sense. Try clicking Find Target. Does it find the file (typically an exe)?.
If you go to Start, then Programs, can you start your programs via those shortcuts?
Try creating a new link to a program exe on the desktop and see if that then works.

I did run the Search and Destroy, but I also unistalled it as I have a program called eAnthology that I am using and it has been working out great. When I first restart my computer, I can use all of the shortcuts and they all work correctly...it's only after the computer being on for a while do they start to not work. I have a bunch of things running that I am not sure what they are and a few things in my Add/Remove Programs that I am not sure what they are..and not sure how to find out what they are.
And Yes I am running XP.

eAntology itself is spyware. I highly recommend that you remove it if you can, and go back to running Spybot and Ad-Aware. See the following:

I had that problem once, a looong time ago when i was a n00b. you can get it from installing pointless software such as regdistry cleaners and speed up programs. Stuff like XP tweaks. You should just reformat your computer to fix that problem, but back up everything first. That problem is very hard to fix.
