Stop ERROR codes

Stop ERROR codes

Does anyone have access to this  “full list of bug check codes, see the bugcodes.h file. This file can be found in the inc directory of the Microsoft Windows Driver Kit (WDK).”  Please help me decipher these codes.

After trying to do “repair” installation of XP Media Center 2005, I received the following information:

DRIVER_UNLOADED_WITHOUT_CANCELLING_PENDING_OPERATIONS
0x000000CE: (0xF6B9965E, 0x00000008, 0xF6B9965E, 0x00000000)

My desktop is in an endless loop; Install drivers to BSOD to Install drivers.  I turned it off.  I would like to stop the endless loop, and move onto a complete reinstall.  I have already completed my backups.

Before trying to “repair” BSOD’s were:

12-6-06 DESKTOP BSOD
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Error Signature
BCCode : a BCP1 : 00000014 BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 : 00000000
BCP4 : 804F1322 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1

12-5-06 DESKTOP BSOD
Error Signature
BCCode : d1 BCP1 : 371F9A58 BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 : 00000001
BCP4 : 8678B7AC OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1

Please help me get out of this endless loop!!!

Thanks,

Wishing

Check the MS site for the list.

Have you tried booting in safe mode (F8 before XP starts to load)? That should get you to the desktop with only the drivers built in XP. From there you should be able to open Device Manager and uninstall and reinstall the drivers for your specific hardware. Be good idea to download the drivers you need from the Dell site using another PC and burn them on to CD so they're all ready to be installed. Don't forget chipset driver, which should be installed before the others.

Also, you may want to run a windows system file check (sfc /scannow) in safe mode before reloading the drivers.

BTW: Please post each problem only once, in the most appropriate forum. You posted this one in 3 forums.

I tried the scannow earlier.  I still had BSOD after the scannow.

Sorry about the mulitple posts.  I didn't know where to post.

The bug check code list is available here:

Unfortunately not very informative for your CE stop code.

A few more links at

click on CE in the right column to bring up the relevant section in the centre frame.

I agree with RoHe that it is most likely a faulty driver for one or other hardware component. Scannow would not correct that as it only checks system files.

Thank you all for responding.

It seems that the parameters tell the "rest of the story" as Paul Harvey says.  I was not clarify that.

However,  I did get out of the endless loop and have reformated.

F12 to the boot screen.  Boot to CD.  Then reformat/reinstall XP.

It is all good now!

Thanks,

So JRosenthal...

I am having BSOD on my other computer as well.  More than one type.  They all point to a driver problem.  I would like to determine which one.

The bug codes are not very helpful.  I would like to look at my minidumps but can't "open" them.  Wordpad and notepad open them into gibberish.

Do you know how I can decipher the parameters?

Is there some software I can download to get additional information?

Thanks,
Moolack

Thev minidumps will be in hex, for which you would need a hex editor to read them. However I doubt that would help you. It certainly would not help me as I don't develop software.

If you are getting the same BSODs on 2 PCs, perhaps there is a common component on both (e.g. both have same graphics or sound card or chipset) whose drivers might be at fault?
Otherwise, what RoHe suggested remains your best bet.
