STUPID NORTON!!!!!

OK OK.. Had to get that off my chest now here is the deal. A while ago I was going to install Norton Internet Security 2003(NIS03) on my PC. During the installation the program stopped and told me that it would take Norton AntiVirous2002 off my PC first and to restart the installation when this was complete. So I did and what the program asked and completed the installation. BUT! There was a funny side affect. I went to turn up the volume on the PC and in place of the tone that accompanies moving the volume button my SYSTEM BOARD BEEPED!!!!! Well that's all it did to my system and I just lived with the stupid sound. Well, recently I had to FDISK my PC and put everything back, and, in order to get my NIS03 working I had to put Norton Antivirus2002 back on and start the whole process over again. I knew what this meant and I was soooo mad. I HAD FINALLY STOPPED THE STUPID BEEPING AND NOW IT IS BACK! AAAAARRRRHRHRHRH!!!! I called Norton and they wanted $29.95 to fix what THEIR program did to my PC. Nice ay? Any ideas as to what is going on with here? Oh I am running WinXP Home SP1.

P.S. I am also getting an error with NIS03 stating that it can not get the instant messaging virus filter working over and over and over and over and ...... well you get the idea. Any ideas on that one?

What Operating System are you using?

I have Norton Internet Security 2003 installed on my Windows XP (Pro) system and it has worked without problems almost a year (since January).  In fact it has worked so good that I'm going to install NIS on my other PC when the current Norton is up for renewal.

There has to be something else that is causing your problem(s).

It is my opinion that most of the Norton software problems occur because of user error or wrong system configerations somewhere.  Do you have a spyware software remover installed?

It is my opinon that most of the Norton problems occur because they don't test properly,  rush buggy software to market so they can have a new release each year, and have overcomplicated their software by trying to do to much other than stop viruses.  A good example if the activation problem they had this year that it has taken them months to figure out how to fix.  Finally a fix is here.
