svchost.exe-Application Error
I have been trying to remove this error from my Dell Inspiron Laptop for several months. I am running Windows XP Professional SP3. HELP! (I am aware that was shouting). This is the message displayed on the "svchost.exe-Application Error", "The instruction at "0x7c91b21a" referenced memory at "0x00000010". The Memory could not be "written". click ok to terminate, click cancel to debug program. I have done "check disk", "full system defrag" (which took forever because I kept getting log errors, and "disk clean up". Every time I start my computer I get this message. If I leave my computer on over night the message appears when I start to work on my computer the next day. Then my computer is so sluggish I have to manually turn it off and reboot. Has anyone had this problem and know how to fix it?

Hi, 2freedom:
The service svchost.exe is not a separate service but is used to "host" other services. You need to determine what the hosted service is. You may be able to identify the culprit in event viewer, so check there.
One of the most common svchost.exe problem children is Windows Update. You could try disabling updates in system properties. If that solves the problem, then you'll need to run updates manually from time to time.

Thanks for the advice. I had to disable the Windows Updater to solve the problem.

Well I've tried that along with the running my security system and I STILL get that annoying svchost.exe - application error popup. Any other suggestions? I was told to possible try to repair operating system but when I get to the windows recovery command screen I have no idea what command to use to repair file or how to type it in. Do I need to delete a registery or something? Thanks in advance
