Svchost.exe is a service program of windows that runs lost of things. You will need to find which 'thing' it was trying to do. When you get the error next time see if a 'detail' button is available and post here the first few line of the description that it contains.
I am getting this same error message with windows 2000 pro. no details button is shown or we would have mentioned it. When I check my error log I am finding the following:
WMI ADAP was unable to create object index 1848 for Performance Library RSVP because no value was found in the 009 subkey
The COM + Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing. HRESULT was 800706BA from line 42 of .\eventsystemobj.cpp. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.
I, too, am receiving this announcement...the error occurs some 10 minutes after I am online (not sure if that's happening with anyone else). Afterwards, I cannot access certain web sites (like Windows Update), as well as some features on web pages (unable to click a SUBMIT button, or an action button to take me to the next page). As with other users, I do not receive information about the program affected, although the dialog box does allow me to see a more detailed report of the problem.
