Swap File in XP Pro

Question

I was just curious, I have 1024 of RAM and I know at any given time at least 500 or more is free till I start running games...... BUT, even after telling Windows to get rid of all swap files on my computer and I deleted all the swap files left over..... Windows did not create any other but there is still a page file somewhere cause when I run dxdiag, it says Page File: 251 Used, 673 Available but I do have a pagefile.sys anywhere on my computer any more, I told Windows to get rid of it being as I have enough RAM so XP will NEVER have to swap.

Anyway, how can I completely eliminate this swap file that Windows is hiding on me, any help would be appreciated, thanks

I did that and it still shows in dxdiag that I have a page file somewhere and it's being used....

I just checked DxDiag against the Task Manager numbers, the control panel and the real size of PageFile.sys.  The number DxDiag and the Task Manager have can only be gotten if  the size RAM is added to swap file size to give the Page File size.  In my case, I have One GBytes of RAM and PageFiles.sys is One GByte.  DxDiag says 1024 MB and PageFIle 321 MB used and 1628 MB available.  The only way I could get those number is if the size of RAM was added for the max values.

all of it already set to 0 on all drives and I hit the show protected system files and hidden files, there is no pagefile.sys on ANY of my disks or partitions but it's still showing I have virtual memory in the amount of around 1GB somewhere and I don't get it

the numbers I get for available and used equals 924, I have 1024 on my system for physical RAM and I double checked my math, the numbers just don't add up, the Task Manager states 575 MB available but system cache is like 375 that doesn't add up to my total 1024 so I think the computer is using some kind swaping to the HD which I want to eliminate, my HD is taxed enough and I have enough physical RAM for everything I'm doing

If you really want to get rid of the swap/page file, which I don't recommend,  go to  Control Panel -> System -> Advanced  tab-> Peformance  -> Settings Button -> Advanced tab -> Virtual Memory -> Change button -> select No Page File radio button  This is using the Control Panel in the Classic View.  P.S The page file si a hiden file usually in in c:\  named Pagfile.sys, which you ca not delete directly.
