Switching from Vista to XP
Hi, I want to make my 1521 notebook to have XP instead of Vista. Is this possible and what should I do before I start.
Thank you

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
You can switch to WinXP for this system. You may want to first download all the drivers for your system and burn them to a disk so that you have them available to install after installing XP. To download the drivers you can click the title below.

What drivers should I download before I install XP? The Vista or the XP on the drivers and download page you sent me? And should I download all of them?
The reason why I want XP on this computer is Vista runs very slow on it. I use this notebook for my DJ Buiseness and when I do a gig it freezes up all of the time. I was told it was the Vista. I am running Norton 360 and finds no problems with my PC. Bought this at Best Buy and Geek Squat told me it might be my hard drive going. Before I get a new hard drive for it I want to try to XP in it and see if that makes a difference. Even if I get a new hard drive I still want to put XP on it anyway so I would still like to know how to put XP on it anyway.
Thank you

If you are wanting to use WinXP as your OS then, you would download WinXP drivers. If your system was shipped with Vista you should have received a Driver and Utilities disk with the system.

I understand that I need to download those drivers. Which ones is the question. Do I download each one indivisally? Sound Card, Graphics? Not sure

Yes, you have to download each one indidually. Edit your user profile to include your system service tag number. I can then look at the hardware components and let you know which ones to download.
