Symantec vs. McAfee & Duplicate File S/W

Question

I am running XP Pro, one a Dell DXP061,Total Physical Memory 2,048.00 MB Available Physical Memory 1.35 GB Total Virtual Memory 2.00 GB Available Virtual Memory 1.96 GB Page File Space 3.85 GB  with a home wireless network. I am seeking opinions on Security  s/w Symantec vs. McAfee Security Suites.  I 've used Norton throughout the years, however I read about systems slowing down and are somewhat pricey.  I use Comcast as ISP and McAfee is offered free. I have had some bad experiences with McAfee several years back, however  if they provide the same security I would like to save the money and maybe not risk any breakins or infections.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Thank you kindly for the reference.  I think for what the McAfee has to offer in its suite has a great deal more to offer than than of Symantec.  Being the price is 000000 I am going to give it a go. Thank You again.   Wally
