SysFader Error - My Computer etc won't open!

Question

Each time I try to open My Computer, My Documents, My Pictures etc, a Windows Explorer error comes up and says My Computer has encoountered a problem and needs to close, sorry for any inconvenience etc etc.
Then an error box comes up and says
SysFader: Exploere.exe: The instruction at "0x02f339a6" referenced memory at "0x03061cec". The memory could not be "read"

What does this mean? Is it a virus, because Norton isnt picking up on it if it is.
