............I have a 64 Bit OS Win 7 Home Premium Edition PC.
I have McAfee Security Centre pre-installed (came with the purchase of the PC)
No viruses have been found - i also scanned the PC with Malware BYtes / Super AntiSpyware / Microsoft Security Essentials. All of which found nothing. (all have been unistalled now)
Also, i've checked the PC using CHKDSK /r : found nothing.
sfc / scannow : found nothing (no integrity violations)
On-Board Memory Diagnostics Test : found nothing
Windows 7 (64 bit) Recovery Disc Memory Diagnostics : found nothing
Windows 7 (64 bit) Start-Up Repair : found nothing
Device Manager has no missing drivers - the PC is 1 and a half years old now - maybe drivers need updating ? which ones though ?
I have MiniDumps from the PC but dont know how to upload them to this site. If you could with this aswell i would be greatful.
Thank you in advance for looking into this.

Hi Randeep,

I appreciate your efforts. You can download an application 'Bluescreen' view to check the file that is causing this issue. You can download it from the link: http://bit.ly/QWjBig

Bluescreen View scans all your minidump files created during 'blue screen of death' crashes, and displays the information about all crashes in one table. You can view the details of the device drivers loaded during the crash in the lower pane. BlueScreenView also mark the drivers that their addresses found in the crash stack, so you can easily locate the suspected drivers that possibly caused the crash. Please let me know the file name causing this issue.

Also, please let me know the antivirus that you have installed on your computer. If you have a Mcafee, try uninstalling it and then re-installing it from the link: http://bit.ly/OVolRQ and see if it makes any difference.

Please reply with findings.

Hi,

Thanks for your help. I have used BlueScreenView and the results are below :

Caused By Driver : ntoskrnl.exe

Filename : ntoskrnl.exe

Address In Stack : ntoskrnl.exe+fe4a8

One other question if i may; My Dell Pc came pre-installed  with Mcafee; although you have given me the link to reinstall Mcafee above (thanks), how do i reinstall Mcafee back onto my PC without paying for it again ?

thanks again

Randeep

Hi Randeep,

Thank you for your quick response.

It is an issue with Operating system of your computer. I would suggest you to back up all the data and perform a factory image restore (PC restore). In this the computer is restored to the default factory conditions.

Note: PC restore will lead to data (pictures, documents, programs, music) loss. Please perform a data backup prior to this step. Please disconnect any external peripherals (printer, scanner or any USB device) as well.

To perform PC restore:-

  • Restart PC, press 3-4 times when the Dell logo appears.
  • Advanced Boot Options menu appears, ‘Repair your Computer' is highlighted, press Enter. (Use the arrow keys to highlight your choice)
  • Windows is loading files screen appears. Wait for it to load.
  • System Recovery Options prompt appears. Specify the language and keyboard input that you want, and then click ‘Next’.
  • Log in as a user who has administrative credentials; select the username from the drop-down list, type the password and click OK.
  • Choose a Recovery Tool Window appears, select Dell Data Safe Restore and Emergency Backup.
  • The Welcome screen will show 2 options; Restore computer and preserve my new or changed files and Select other System Backup and more options. Select the second option (Select other System Backup and more options) and click Next.
  • The next window shows these options; Backup Files and folders and Restore my computer. Select ‘Restore my computer’.
  • Select the Factory Image and click ‘Next’.
  • The next window shows 2 options; 'Preserve new or changed files before restoring to selected System Backup' and 'Restore without preserving new or changed files'. Select the second option (Restore without preserving new or changed files) and click Next.
  • A prompt appears stating that your computer is about to be restored all data currently on your computer will be deleted and replaced with your selected Full System Backup. If an Emergency File & Folder Backup was created, it will still be saved in the location you selected. Click 'Yes, continue' and click Next.
  • PC restore will initiate. Once done, click Restart.
  • Follow the onscreen instructions to create a user account.

You can also refer to Article: http://dell.to/TYFihj . In case the issue still persists, you may need to perform an operating system re-installation.

In reference to Mcafee, you can log in to the Mcafee website and can download the version of Mcafee that you have purchased with computer. In case you have not registered yet, you can create an account and can initiate a chat with Mcafee agent from link: http://bit.ly/SW0enV and register the Mcafee version you have purchased with computer. You would need to provide them the Service tag, Date of purchase and the order number of purchase.

Please reply for further clarifications.
