System cannot enter standby mode

For the past few months my system cannot enter standby mode. I receive an error message that the 'AC97 Soft V92 Data Fax Modem' device is preventing the machine from entering standby mode, and to shut all applications and either try again or reload the driver.

I have reloaded the driver and run diagnostics confirming that I have the most current driver loaded (the hardware is an HP Officejet 6110xi all in one) but still cannot enter standby mode. Could this be tied to SP2? What else can I do to fix it?

is the modem in use when you put the system into standby? This is not a major problem, just an annoyance.

Are the properties of that device set to wake the system upon connection? If so you can uncheck that box, and it should work fine!

No, it isn't. Any other suggestions?

Where do I find this box? I looked under properties (Control panel, printer & fax, HP 6110xi, properties) but did not see it, even scanning each tab listed. I don't think this is the problem as it used to work fine and I didn't change the setting (especially since I can't find it!) but I would like to check it out anyway...

try closing the program that uses the modem. Then try standby, and look at your processes and services.
