System Configuration Utility update...???

Hello--
I've been getting a notification that I need this update everytime Ive run the Dell 'check my pc', even after I intsalled it.....twice!:smileyindifferent: The first time was with Firefox, so I thought, maybe it didnt take since it's a Microsoft product(?) So anyway, I did it again after the next scan showed that result, and after that I ran it again, only to get the SAME RESULT!:smileysad:  Why is it still telling me to get this update? It's Windows XP update KB906569, and its supposed to be some kind of tools option thats added to the system configuration utility....but Ive seen NO difference. The msconfig menu is the same....what's the deal with this??

You said that the update is installed, did you confirm this?

1. Click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Windows Update or Microsoft Update. 2. On the Web site, click Review your update history. 3. Locate the most recent entry for the specific update. 4. Note the color of the icon in the Status column. If the icon is green, the update was installed. If the icon is red, the update was not installed.

This link will explain more.

If it installed correctly its probably an issue with Dell 'check my pc'

tomron-- Ok here's the thing. I didn't install this from the Microsoft Windows update site. I clicked on the link that was in the result of the Dell scan. So it's not going to show on the Windows update page. But it WAS installed, since it did actually install, and it said that it was installed afterward...??? Maybe it IS an issue with the Dell scan-my-pc, since it keeps bringing it up after I scan it. Im just not sure how it's saying that it's installed, but then it's not even in my add/remove programs. Where did it go?:(------M.

"So it's not going to show on the Windows update page"

I figured a windows update would show in the update page.

"it's not even in my add/remove"

Did you check the "show updates "box

I'm not familiar with dell pc check,is that the same as dell support,if it is I've read many complaints regarding it.In fact, some members are asking for instructions on how to remove it.

I use MBSA,which shows which updates are insralled, and which are missing.

The version I use is 2.0.1

OK so if it was supposed to show up on the Microsoft update page, then why didn't it? And YES I did have the 'show updates' box checked in my add/remove....I did know enough to do that. But I'm thinking that it's something to do with the Dell pc check option. Also, there is already a tools option in msconfig menu, so why would this update even be necessary? I'm not sure what else it was supposed to change, because everything is the same. But I won't worry about it, since everything else is working great:)-----Thanks for your help
