System disc
My son just bought a used Dell Inspiron 1545, which did not come with the system disc. We would like to restore the computer to factory settings, since there is a lot of junk on the hard drive. It is currently running windows 7 ultimate, which I believe was installed as an upgrade to the original windows 7 home premium.
Any ideas where I might be able to purchase the original OS discs? Factory restore doesn't work, because the "Dell Factory Image Restore" option is no longer there once you pass the "Repair your computer" page.
I would be very grateful, for any suggestions on how to resolve this issue..:emotion-1:

Follow my instructions here:
The download links and details are here:
http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/download-microsoft-windows-and-office/download-microsoft-windows/windows-7-sp1-iso-download/
If you want to retrieve your retail upgrade key to Windows 7 Ultimate you can do so by following the instructions here:
http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/gathering-information-about-your-pc/belarc-advisor/
For instructions on the clean installation of Windows see here:

I'd advise the secure wipe with DBAN before beginning the installation. After you have clean installed Windows 7 with all the updates and system drivers I recommend installation of Dell Backup and Recovery which will make new factory settings.
