System failed to load during startup: memory error

Question

Hi all, I'm just wondering if anybody could give me some advises pls? After installed an email client software and restarted the system, a message said 'Sound card crashed...memory error' popped up during startup and then turned into all black screen. Tried to restart the PC many times but still couldn't get into the system. Just black screen with the mouse cursor appeared. For the last resort, I should re-install the system right? I'm using Wins 8.1 on XPS 8700. Just bought it last month. Any inputs would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Sounds like a failed hard drive.

Run F12 preboot diagnostics:

If they pass prepare Windows 8.1 with Update 1 installation media:
