System File Checker
Hi
I need to run the system file checker to check for damaged or missing system files on my Dell 4600 P4 2.8GHZ with 512MB. Whenever I run the utility, it asks me to insert the installation disk for Windows XP Home. The only disk I got from Dell is the Reinstallation Disk for Windows XP which the utility rejects.
Can I run the system file checker on my system?

bobcwilson,
That is the correct disk they are asking for. I don't know why it would reject it.
Make sure it is clean and install it before you start the file check process.

See this Forum thread;

If you have to change the DELL installed Product Key which isn't your COA Sticker Product Key as DELL use a generic Product key;
Must reboot Windows for change to take effect & re-Activate Windows XP
Auto change Product Key via Activation Wizard with FREE program keyChanger.exe in ZIP File with View Product Key Program as well.
http://www.the-innercircle.com/filedump/xpsp1.zip (contains two programs , Changer & Viewer)
Use your valid COA Product Key.
Or use Microsoft site info to manually change;
