System File Checker
I have tried doing an sfc /scannow and it asks for my original install disk. I put the Dell supplied WindowsXP SP2 CD in the drive and it tells me this is not the original install disk.
Any clues how to do an sfc /scannow on a new Dell Dimension 8400?
I also have several licensed copies of XP SP2 as well.
Thanks!
Gary

Dream Master-
Try this....my computer-right click on local disk (c?)-properties- tools. You will find error checking
there. It will give you a couple of options. One is repair. I don't remember the other, but check them
both and you will probably get a message about error checking being unable to start, would you like
to have it checked on the next reboot? click yes and then it should start up on your next reboot just
before it loads your settings. This may not work if your sfc command didn't work. Don't know
your next step if it doesn't. Good luck
