that helped a little, thanks! what i'm assuming was the problem is this mysterious "f" drive that showed up one day. i was told on another board it may be a "dell partition". i turned it off only from monitoring and created a restore point and it's still there three days later, so maybe that was the problem.thanks again!

The mysterious F drive problem has shown up here on the forum in the last few days.  It is normally a hidden FAT partition on the hard the contains the Dell Diagnostics and was installed at the factory.  It is normally hidden, but there have been reports of it suddenly showing up after the installation of Napster 2.  Did you recently install this new version of Naptster?

yes acutally i wanted to blame Napster for this in the begining, but didn't have a way to prove it. it was a few days later after i downloaded it that i saw the f drive. so what's the importance of the f drive? can it be removed without any ill effects?

Yes, you can remove it without any ill effects.  Normally its a hidden partition that you cannot access anyway.

okay, so i can't remove it. not because i i can't, but because i don't know how. i right clicked over it and don't see delete, but that probably makes sense. so what do i do to get rid of it. format? that will only clear it and it will still be there right?
