SYSTEM RESTORE PROBLEM
I REMOVED A PROGRAMME AND WAS THEN INSTRUCTED TO DELETE THE FILE FROM MY C DRIVE. AFTER DOING THIS A BUNCH OF THINGS WILL NOT WORK SO I WANT TO RESTORE THE SYSTEM. WHEN I PRESS "SYSTEM RESTORE" I GET A BLANK PAGE WITH SYSTEM RESTORE AT THE TOP. I WENT INTO msconfig AND TRIED SYSTEM RESTORE THERE BUT GOT THE SAME RESULT i.e. BLANK PAGE WITH SYSTEM RESTORE AT THE TOP. ANY ADVICE ON HOW TO PROCEED FROM HERE????

Before doing a complete reinstall, try this:

Well, it saved me once. But, yes, sometimes it doesn't get you into restore. A complete reinstall is not that bad - I did it more than once. The problem is that all your updates won't be there and depending on when you got your computer you might have plenty of Windows updates to download. And your other programs won't be there -- the ones you added on. The reinstall won't take long -- it's the personalization that will. When it happened to me, I had used registry mechanic and then did something to the registry, of course.
Unless Denny or Rick has some other ideas.

That's all the remedies I have.
I am surprised reinstalling IE didn't fix it.

You don't by chance have the IE7 Beta installed, do you?

SP-2 may fix it. If not, it would be much easier to reinstall IE than XP.

After trying all the recommended fixes and a few others I bit the bullet and spent $99 on Dell's Tech Service. They were very good and fixed everything but it took them 3hrs and 42 minutes so I don't feel so bad.
Thank you for your help.
Best regards,
Babwedog.

Were you able to determine what the exact fix was?
