System Volume Information

HI

Wondering if anyone can say if it's OK to let AdAware make changes to System Volume Information?
AdAware has found references to eValue (incredifind) I've always read here to let Adaware delete all it finds but doesn't Sys. Vol have to do with Sys Restore??

Any help appreciated. Thanks

C:\System Volume Information is the location of the system restore points. I doubt very much if that file belongs there. That file could be in any one of the RP folders or in the System Volume Information folder itself. System Volume Information is a hidden folder and must be unhidden to access it. If it was me I would let AdAware remove it.

You could:

1. Delete all of your restore points by disabling and reenabling System Restore.

I think both replies are worth a try. Deleting Restore points may be my first option and see where I stand after that. Thanks very much.

If the file is inside a restore point folder, it cannot be deleted by another app, such as Adaware or an antivirus app. (Windows prevents it as that would break the chain of restore points). In that case the only option is to delete all the restore points, as Denny said.

To gain access to the contents of system volume information folder, see

Thanks, MSIL217 - I had a similar issue and turning restore off and then back on did the trick!
