System32 folder
When I start Windows XP Home Edition I get the windows System32 folder on my screen. This started just after I applied the HP fix for ScanJet 5100C to Windows XP. This was accomplished by unplugging ScanJet 5100C parallel plug; loading Windows 98 hp 5100c software (not rebooting); loading hp scanjet 5100c windows 2000 upgrade; loading windows 2000 copy utility upgrade; and finally loading hp scanjet 5100c fkor windows xp. I rebooted and now I have the hp software working correctly which gives me the copy utility program which Windows XP drivers for hp do not have. There must be a way to regedit the windows screen of system32 folder so it does not appear each time i reboot.

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n, /e, c:\yourfolder
This also works with Windows Professional and Server.

Something in the startup sequence of windows and my programs, (probably the hp scanner program I just installed) is causing it. I suppose if I uninstall the hp program and it goes away I will know for sure.
Much obliged for you help.
I did uninstall and reinstall and still the same problem. Finally, I checked msconfig\startup and saw a checked box that had no description. I unchecked the box, rebooted and now everything is back to normal. The box was located at Software\microsoft\windows\current version\run. I've also run virusscan all files and came up clean. I can only surmise that the hp install did this?
All's well that ends well.

Sorry to bother you but did you ever find out how to have the system 32 folder not come up when you start windows.
Thanks in advance.
