systeminfo ERROR: Provider load failure

Dell Latitude D830 XP Professional SP2

systeminfo.exe issues "ERROR: Provider load failure." when executing "Loading Network card Information ..." step.

Also observed that System Information> Network> Adapter will not return any information.

Anyone have any ideas or similar experience?

Thanks.

That's not good. Could be Registry, .dll corruption or a hardware failure. Boot to Safe Mode w/Networking and see if the NIC returns any info. If not run NIC diags.

To clarify, networking is OK.  The systeminfo command return is the problem.  I am attempting to install packaged software that utilizes the output from this command.  From other forums it looks like this is a recurring problem with Dell Latitude boxes and XP Pro.  But, I don't see any resolution yet.

I had the same problem.  Running SYSTEMINFO locally or remotely to check this laptop (latitude d830) and would get the same error provider load failure.

I tried deleting the WBEM files and that didn't work.  I noticed that about half of the DLL files on this computer were compressed.  I uncompressed them and now the command works like it is supposed to.
