When I minimize open windows it does not appear on my task bar - it disppears completely and I can't retieve what I was viewing any longer. How can I get minimized windows to show as a button on my task bar again?

Thank you for this but I'm too scared to use it! How do I know what will happen and it is not a virus or other malicious software? Is it definitley safe to use? Do I save it to my desktop, check for virus and then click it? I diod this but am too scared to click it in case it causes huge problems I won't be able to fix etc.

Thanks for the help so far.

Best wishes,

OK.  I can understand that.
Kellys fixes are usually safe to run but here are some suggestions.

1.  Try System Restore to before the problem started
OR
2.  Back up the registry before applying this fix.  If it does go wrong you can then replace the old settings.

Here is how to back up the registry
1. Click Start /Run and type in "regedit" (no quotes).
2. Next, click the File menu, Export
3. Select a location from the resulting box and give your backup registry a
name.

Now, how to restore the registry you just backed up...
First, if Windows gets an error when loading your registry, it will automatically revert to its backup, so it should never give you any kind of trouble loading.
But what do you do if you've been playing around in your registry and have *really* messed stuff up?
Click the Registry menu (in the Registry Editor) and select Import Registry. Then just point the computer to your back up file.

To run the fix
Save it to desktop.  It is not a virus or malicious software. Lots of people use these fixes.
It depends whether you downloaded the whole "Tool" or just the fix for "Minimised Windows"
If it was the whole tool, when you click it you will get the Options box and will have to use the drop down "Taskbar Problems" box to select the fix for "Minimised Windows"
If it was only for "Minimised Windows" it will probably just run itself
Just follow any instructions.

Sorry, but I don`t know any easier way to fix the problem.
Try Systen Restore first.  You might get lucky!

Thank you very much!

I used the Kelly fix despite my misgivings as lots of other people recommended it too. It worked perfectly right away.

I would like to know why but still - it worked!

Tahnks again.
