Task Manager Processes
I looked at the processes in the task manager and IE is using over 20,000K of my memory. It is the largest usage of my memory and it uses about 17,000K even when IE is not even open. What is that about? Why would that process be running if I'm not even on line?
18,000K and higher is what it is using while I'm using IE, 17,000K is what it is using when Off line.

I just looked at I.E. in my system and right now it shows 31596 K. I have no memory or system performance problems. Most applications, will use whatever is necessary at the moment for the application.
You can't relate what is happening in Win XP to older Windows Operating Systems and System Restources. Windows XP manages memory and resources differently and resources are not even listed anymore as they are not an issue.
My system has 512 Mb Ram and is Windows XP Professional.

yes that is normal.. if you run a java application in ie, it will be showing 40 kb's of memory being used for that instance of ie.. i thought that was excessive, and unique to sun's virtual machine, but ms's virtual machine is the same..
