Task scheduling and McAfee virus scan

I can't get McAfee virus scan to run automatically.  I have tried every setting in task scheduler including the Runas password and Wake the computer to run this task.  It is completely inconsistant.  If I set it to run at logon then I reboot, it will run.  If I set it to run, let's say five minutes from now, and I reboot, it will run then.  But, if I set it to run at, say, 12:30pm daily, and reboot, it will not run unless 12:30pm is in, like, 3 minutes!!  I can't figure out why it will sometimes work and sometimes won't!  It's like after a longer period of time it forgets to run or it can't run.  I have checked the logs and nothing is logged for those misssed attempts.  Under the Last run time in the Task scheduler folder it says "never" to everything although there are log entrys from things that did run.  In fact, McAfee updater seems to run, but not the virus scan.  My computer is set not to go into Standby or Hibernate, but I do have the monitor shut down in 30 minutes.  I have a Dimension 8300 with XP Pro.  I have searched the microsoft knowledge base and have had no success.  Has anyone else had a similar problem?  Thanks in advance!

amajamar,

Sorry to sound so trivial but I have to ask.  Do you log in with a password?  The task scheduler will not run without the user that created it log in with a password.  (There is a registry tweak that will bypass this but, let me know how you set up scheduler)

No question is trivial when troubleshooting a Microsoft product.....!

Yes, I do logon with a password, and I have set the password in the "Run as" box on the Scheduled Task itself.
