Taskbar has no memory!

On startup, my taskbar is set to autohide.

If I uncheck that box and restart, it rechecks itself.

That also applies to any other settings I make there!

Clearly I have either disabled or deleted something but the question is "What?"

Any help would be appreciated

regards

Chris

Hello Chris :smileyhappy:

Try repairing the Taskbar

Chris
Hmmm....it is very odd. That usually fixes most taskbar problems.
Here`s my only other suggestion, so I hope it works for you.

Line  164  left hand side
"Restore Taskbar to Default Functionality"

Download .vbs file and save it to your hard drive (you may want to right click and use Save Target As).  Double
click  the vbs file. You will be prompted when the script is done.

NOTE: If your anti-virus software warns you of  a "malicious" script, this is normal if you have "Script Safe" or similar technology enabled.  These scripts are not malicious, but they do make changes to the System Registry.

You`re a Scotsman?   I`m a Scotswoman who loves the modern-day "Dunedin".:smileyhappy:

Thanks Dunedin, (nice name that! To a Scotsman :-)

Yes I had installed that program but it makes no difference.

This is all very odd!

Well now I'm not sure if it is odd or I am! :-)

It certainly didn't work when I did it but this morning when I logged on it had worked.

Maybe it needed a powerdown as well as a kicking in the shell :-)

Thanks for your help.

Yes, I live in Oban, centre of the known universe :-) and if I dug a hole straight down, it would come out in Dunedin and everybody I've ever met that has been there, thinks NZ is the best place on earth!
:-)

I`m glad you got it fixed.

We`ve got a crossed wire here :smileyhappy:

My "Dunedin" is the old old name for Edinburgh.  Scots took the name to New Zealand when they settled there.
I`ve never been to NZ, but have also heard that it is beautiful.

:-)

Well, it's easier to get to the old Dunedin than the new :-)

Beautiful city!

I live close to Dunadd and that is pretty much where the Scotland we know, started.

Any idea why the taskbar was unable to store its settings?

Regards

Chris

Ah yes.  You live in a beautiful part of Scotland. :smileyhappy:

I have absolutely no idea why the taskbar was misbehaving.  XP does some weird and sometimes wonderful things that defy explanation. People are posting every day with strange problems that happen for no reason and the number of sites on the Internet with fixes bears testament to this.
Take consolation in the fact that this happens to most of us :smileyhappy:
