Taskbar slow to initialize during startup, systray even slower
When I bootup my computer, the desktop loads fine, but the taskbar takes 2 min to be available. I put my mouse on the bottom of the screen and it has an hourglass while it is trying to load. Also, most programs are available (from the desktop shortcuts), but IE doesnt load until after 2min when the taskbar shows up.
Also, the icons in my system tray are sporadic. Even during the same windows session, I'll look down and I'll see missing and new icons. I've disabled "hide inactive icons". BTW I consider myself a network technician, so I've done the obvious! I've checked the taskmanager, and nothing is running above 1%. I'm in the process of going through my startup services to find the culprit. Any ideas!?!

check the event viewer. the XP OS is a little funny when it comes to booting, they decided to show you the desktop ASAP to make you think that the boot times have really improved, then they start alot of 'services' as you look at the desktop. Normally this doesn't take too long, but if there is a problem with one of the services it can stall for a bit.
