Tech-impaired needs help

I have a Dimension 4600
I have an hourglass that won't go away and a message occasionally pops up
    CoreDll.dll not found
    Reinstall
What is it?  Where did it go?  How do I get it back?  Do I need it?  Can I do it without crashing my entire computer?  Or is it some kind of virus thing trying to sneak in?

Is that the entire message, is there something that says  xxxx could not start, CoreDll.dll not found??

We need as much info on what you are doing when this happens.

It says it is unable to start application (but I didn't ask it to start any application) and it says Reinstalling Coredll.dll may fix problem.  I happens when I go on line, but everything online seems to work fine except I have this hourglass that won't go away.
I have no idea what Coredll.dll is and I don't know how it could have disappeared.  I have Windows XP and have not changed anything or deleted anything that I can think of that would cause this.  I looked at CoreDll.dll on yahoo and it had a 'free fix install' available but I don't like to put in anything I don't know what it is.

Go to this forum http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board?board.id=si_hijack  and read the RED link at the top and then post your log on that forum along with what you have stated here, also post the Model of Dell you have and the OS Version.
