The memory could not be read???

Greetings,

Every once and a while I get the following error either when I close down the internet or shut down the PC.  "The instruction at 0x68009430 referenced memory at 0x68009430, the memory could not be read."  I just purchased this PC in NOV. 06', and I am curious to why this is happening and if anyone has any troubleshooting ideas that I should try???  Below is the hardware my PC consists of and it is an XPS410 running Windows XP Media Center Edition, and thank you in advance for your responses.

Go to control panel (may have to switch to classic view)/administrative tools/event viewer and ck all the event locations for errors.  Sometimes you'll get an error for something you don't have installed like a fax etc. that causes the problem, which was my case so I went to services and turned fax off which fixed the problem.

The above is a good troubleshooting step, BUT, the best thing to do is reformat and install a fresh copy of windows.  This eliminates all the surpurfulous programs dell loads. A pain yes, worth it, you bet.

BTW:  you're probably asking yourself why not just uninstall all the programs you don't need and eliminate the format/install windows step.  Because it leaves to many stray files and needless registry entries.

I get the exact same error after I installed Norton Internet Security 2007.  It occurs right before the computer turns off or reboots.  I get no errors in my logs either.  It occurs 90% of the time on shutdowns or reboots.  If you find a fix, please let me know.
