How did you backup your files?

Did you use a program like Ghost or Acronis? or did you use the backup built into Vista to backup your files? If you used the Vista tools to do this I will not be able to help since I have never used that tool and someone else will join in shortly with advice.

Did you just copy the files to a CD or DVD? If so did you just do a drag and drop or did you use something like Roxio or Nero.

If you used any of the above methods did you already reinstall that software onto your computer?

The more info that you can provide will help others to help you.

If you backed up the files to the same partition as the os then you more than likely lost them when you did the reinstall.

Did you reformat the hd prior to installtion?

you should always back up files to a different disk then the OS disk.

Yes, I did use Vista's own backup device to backup my files.

I've figured it out.  All I had to do was go to backup and restore center in the control panel, then choose advanced restore located beneath the restore files button; then choose advanced restore again and pick the option to restore from another computer.... Voila.  I appreciate it guys for given me your advice anyway.
