You won't mess anything up by uninstalling the trialware software.

redrobin1,

Are you sure that Corel Office 12 is going to expire? It was not an option when I purchased my latest Dell but I had the impression that you paid for that suite (and should have the appropriate CDs for it).

I just double-checked and yes, there is a disk for it, but it is only a 60 day trial. Thank you for your help!

Open Office is a great free alternative office suite....

It does what Corel does, and, did I mention it was free?

Why would they give you a CD if it was only a trial version?
My new system came with Word Perfect12 which I paid for. The "trial" part of it is for the "presentations" The Word Perfect software is permanent.

Thanks everyone. I stand corrected. This is a new computer, our first one. All the other ones have been second hand, hand-me-downs. Not even my nephew knew what to tell us about this, and he has been at this for years and years. New software is a new experience for now! Yes, I feel dumb... Great advice about the free software, I may very well give it a try!

You could try "Dell De-Crapifier" to remove trial software from your system. Free here:

Read and follow directions. ;)

Never used it so take no responsibility...

Yep, I found that, but I think I may not use it yet. A bit nervous about using it, actually, on a system so new. I had enough trouble with our old computer and I'm not ready for more trouble yet again, as we like this system quite a bit! I inquired about it and they sent me a response saying it WILL get rid of it all, as long as the program recognizes it. Thanks for the suggestion! When more of this trialware goes I may do that yet, but not just yet. Think all of this just about answers all my questions. Thanks everyone!

Wound up downloading Open Office. Uninstalled Corel Office stuff. Most of it was trialware and what was left really was only left to view things, except for the word processor. I really like Open Office quite a bit actually, and am still exploring it and learning. Thanks for telling me about it.
