Troublw with E-Mail Default

When mailing a picture from My Pictures or a link or page from a Web site, my e-mail defaut always came up.  But now, all of a sudden, there's an error message telling me that my default mail is not set and to go to Outlook to reset it.  I've never used Outlook as an e-mail default and never had to.  I set my e-mail default by going to Tools/Internet Options/Programs/E-mail, with AOL the default.  It always worked before.  Can anyone offer a suggestion?

Are you saying that you cannot set AOL as  the default in Tools/Internet options?

Some times when you install or update Microsoft Office it will change this default setting, but can be set back with no problems.

AOL already shows as the default.  It's just not working.  How do I "activate" it?

Check this

My Computer/Tools/Folder Options/File Types
In list of file types, click. (URL:Mailto Protocol)
Click Advanced.

In Actions, click Open. Click Edit.
In Application used to perform action, enter the program to use to open files that have this extension, then click OK.

In your case (including quotes)
"C:\PROGRAM FILES\AOL\MSIMN.EXE" /mailurl:%1

This is assuming AOL is in Program Files on "C".

I must apologise to you as I did not give you the correct path to fill in
I posted
"C:\PROGRAM FILES\ AOL\MSIMN.EXE" /mailurl:%1
The RED section should be the name of the AOL mail program.  I mistakenly left MSIMN.EXE there and it is Outlook Express

I`m sorry but I have no knowledge of AOL at all.

Note what it says here about something needs to be installed or set up on your system first
