udfreader_xp driver and system instability
I cannot resolve a driver issue that is causing instability on my Dimension 2350. The instability is not consistent, as the system will run crash-free for many days. The error report sent to Microsoft after each crash states that I have a device driver problem.
The Error Log states with each start up: "The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: UdfReader_xp."
Twice I have downloaded and installed the patch for the Easy CD Creator offered by Dell. However, the error log continues to give the message as reported by the Service Control Manager.
In the System Info, Software Environment, it states that the udfreader is started, but the udfreader_xp is not.
Am I targeting the wrong driver? I never receive the blue screen or have the system simply go black and shut off after any cd-rom activity, a device I rarely use. It tends to be while I'm online, especially right after I've gone online.
I've run belarc and AdAware. The only updates to my XP Home SP2 configuration have been the usual Windows and Norton's updates and I began using Firefox, but the problem occurred before adding Firefox.
Please ask for any system info I have not offered.
