ugh, Where do I start (Can't load XP)
OK my problem started a few days ago when i did system restore to resore my computer to an earlier date (to change back drivers). For some reason that gave me an error and then i couldn't boot Windows (First it gave me missing or corrupt hal.dll, and then it gave me missing or corrupt \windows\system32\config\system) So then i tried to do a "system restore" using the recovery console (i read about it on a site), but then that didn't work and then i was stuck with windows not loading at all. Well i needed to use my computer for school, so i re-installed another copy of windows in the C:\WINDOZE folder so i could still use my computer. Now when i boot i have the option to choose C:\Windows or C:\Windoze to use. When i try C:\Windows it starts to load and then just goes to a black screen after the xp loading screen. I can't boot into safe mode with that installation either, it just freezes part way through loading the drivers. I can't do a repair install because when i try to, the windows xp cd doesn't recognise C:\Windows as a windows installation. Now, what i'm asking is:
Is there any chance of me getting my C:\Windows installation/programs (registry values) back?
Is there any chance of me getting my C:\Windows installation/programs (registry values) back?
Thanks for your time taken reading this and for any help given.

Type in: msconfig
click OK
Click Boot.Ini tab
Click "Check All Boot Paths" button
Allow it to remove the damaged path
Exit msconfig and reboot. It shouldn't ask you to select one or the other again. If you get a message about "running in selective startup mode" when you get to the desktop, just put a check in "Don't show this again" box.
