i cant seem to boot the win XP cd is there a certain way it has to boot? when i turn on my laptop i press F12 and then select CD?DVD/CD-RW Drive. from there it asks me which operating system to start with Pro or home edition and when i select either or advanced in F8 it restarts or freezes with the error is that the correct way to boot up win XP cd if not can someone tell me?
You could check your bios to ensure your CDROM is selected to be a bootable device. If you have the option to select this device to be the first boot device, then do so. If your able to press F12 and you can select the cdrom drive, then it should boot off of the XP cd.
I check my bios and set it to boot off the cd drive first. however the same thing happened it went right to the os choices menu as if the cd didn't exist although i did here sounds coming from the cd drive on my laptop. im now beginning to think i have a cd that wont boot at start up is this possible becuase it worked on this dell desktop im using when i put the cd in.
