Unable to Boot Win XP
I took my Latitude D505 to a customer office this week and plugged it into a docking station for an Inspiron 8500. (Yes, I went brain dead because I was focusing on the customer rather than the possible incompatibilities.) Anyway, the laptop tried to boot but failed to the BSOD giving information like:
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
*** STOP: 0x00000050 (0xD1280000, 0x00000000, 0x804D9DA8, 0x00000000)
I ran the Dell Diagnostics and no problems were revealed.
I also was able to boot the laptop using MandrakeMove, a version of Linux that boots from the CD. Using this Linux boot, I did retrieve files from the hard drive and I can use the laptop.
My opinion is that there is nothing wrong with the Dell, but XP has been compromised. When I try to reinstall the OS, it too results in the BSOD with the information shown above.
Any assistance, insights, etc. is appreciated.

Look for "Yellow" errors
Look for "Red" errors. Double click on error.
