Unable to install any software/progarmme - error message installation already in progress
Hi
I am unable to install any software. Keep getting the error message ' installation already in progress. you must complete the installation before continuing this one.
But i have no installation in progress. I have Vista - inspiron 1520. Can some please suggest something - i am struck..

Hi there
Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management then Services.
Now In the right side of window search for "Windows Installer".
Right click on it and select properties; In the middle of the popup box you will see Startup Type. Use the drop down arrow and select "Disabled" and click apply.
Close everything and restart.
After restarts go back to Windows Installer but now choose "Manual" click apply and close Computer Management.
Now try to install your software.
