Uninstalled Software - Reversible?

Hello, everyone. I hope someone here can help me with my problem.

I accidentally uninstalled the CyberLink PowerDVD v5.5 that came with my Inspiron laptop. I never bothered to make a restore point, and my Dell warranty is over, so I can't get the backup CD for reinstallation. I don't know if it helps, but the Dell part # is U8606. Oh, the OS is Win2K Pro.

I admit it all started with a bone-headed move on my part, but I'm very disapointed with Dell's support. True, my warranty is up, but I feel these CD's should be included with the system, and cutting off the support for the backup CD's with the warranty is somewhat sleazy. (I didn't realize I couldn't get a backup CD without a current warranty.)

So, can anyone here offer a suggestion as to how I can get my DVD software back? (Or maybe something equivalent for cheap/free?) Thank you for any and all help!

I would call Dell back and demand to speak with someone in customer service (complaints dept). You paid for a product that wasn't shipped entirely to you. Those cds are a necessity and they are obliged to provide you with all essential media that was supposed to be shipped out originally.
