Uninstalling software

Hello,

I am trying to uninstall a digital camera software from my pc "Digimax viewer 2.1". Each time I go to  "Add/Revome Program" and click on remove, I get the followint message:

"InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) cout not be installed. The system cannot find the file specified."

I am not trying to install any program.  The has been acting up since I got a virus a few months back.

I found a solution that said to run CMD and type cd\ and insert the Windows XP, however I got my pc from dell and Windows was already installed.

Please help.

Altthough not the recommended procedure, you can do a Start>Search for Digimax viewer 2.1, high light each entry found and send to the recycle bin.

Thanks for your suggestion. I tried it and not all the results are able to be sent to the recycle bin. It is still showing on the "add remove program" list.

There are utility programs that will allow you to purge listings of old programs from Add/Remove Programs but I cannot remember what they are. Maybe another user can help.

Ther are also ways to edit the registery if you are comfortable in deleting keys there. It is some risky unless you are very carefull.

The standard procedure it to first try reinstalling the software then try uninstalling it.

A product called jv16 Power Tools by Macecraft Software can remove partially-uninstalled programs, and a multitude of other things. It has a Software Manager button which lists all resident programs, and you can choose whether to Uninstall or Custom Uninstall it. Hope this helps.

There were a few suggestions offered. Which one was it that worked for you?
