Update error 80072efe after fresh w7 install
Hi, Im new here. A user of Inspiron1420.
found prob that i cant update my windows update and also mse. internet connections are as usual though.
both show error code 80072efe. i tried using tdsskiller but no thread is found. i also tried scanning with malwarebyte' s anti- malware, no thread is found.
using: windows 7 profession msdn.
it's a fresh install of w7 as i jus formatted my lappy.

kevinf80, the one who helped me with the issue, mentioned that, after all the checks, it may even be a hardware issue, memory or HD and suggested me to post a topic here.
Anyone can help me with it?

The correct and required install sequence is (1) Install Windows (2) Install Dell Laptop System Software (3) Install motherboard chipset drivers (4) Install device drivers including video, sound, ethernet, etc. There are two chipset drivers listed in the Dell downloads for Vista 32 bit, an Intel motherboard chipset driver and a Ricoh chipset driver.
Dell ONLY supports Vista 32 bit on this model there are NO Windows 7 drivers. In most cases the Vista 32 bit drivers will work in Windows 7 32 bit. However, there can be certain hardware devices that will not work with Vista drivers and require Windows 7 specific drivers. As there are no Dell drivers you will have to look elsewhere for these drivers.
If you installed Vista 64 bit, there is no Dell support at all for 64 bit on this model.
Aside from installation issues, HERE is some info that may help you on that error.

All the steps in tht particular forum, i've tried...and also the microsoft solutions...
no rootkit...nothing...
any other solutions i can try?

Hi! I've installed the window 7 before and it run without any problems..window 7 professional x86 from msdn.
But this time after I formatted the lappy due to some unavoidable problems, it came...jus like this. I used to update all the drivers from Windows Update w7 after I install the windows without any prob...I used the same installation cd...
Really it is because of dell inspiron 1420 dont support windows 7?
