Updating Google Earth

Does Google Earth update automatically like Desktop Search and the Toolbar?

Has it occurred to you to open the application's Help option, and then look for "Check for updates on line?"  The wide variety of support information available at the Google Earth Community  ( http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/postlist.php/Cat/0/Board/SupportFAQ ) should help, too.

Yes, it occured to me to check the update option inside Google Earth. But that is a manual update, not an automatic one. There is currently a beta version available, and I rarely like to use beta programs. The only exception was going from IE 6 to IE 7RC1 because of the former's security problems.

I've used Google Forums for questions regarding their desktop, but in all candor its easier to ask here, in the 'Other Software' forum.

As far as I know it doesn't. I've always updated manually, either from within the program (does not always offer latest update when that becomes available.) or by downloading the new version to the hard drive and installing from there.
