Updating my Drivers
Driver updates
Im pretty new at this , I would like to up-date my drivers. Should I remove the old driver and then reinstall them? Or is there something I should do before I do anything? Can someone please help me out? Thank you......................

What model PC? What Operating System?
Driver updates are in the "gray area". Basically it depends on what the driver does and whether it affects your specific PC. There are some that Dell denotes as "criitical" and some as "optional". The BIOS updates are very critical to install as a failed BIOS update and a corruption of the BIOS and the ONLY option is to replace the motherboard. There are device vendor drivers (e.g. video), those that Windows will provide and those that are Dell specific. Some devices require Dell specific drivers, such as the sound drivers, for proper operation.
Bottom line with drivers the old adage applies, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". This is not to say never update drivers, just that you must use some common sense and not just update to be updating.
I know of instances where users have never updated the drivers in their PC's, in one case in a 9 year old PC, and everything works fine.
