Others on the forum may know for sure whether that model is supported for use with XP, but Denny's site has the information and tools required to make that determination.

You are borderline with the 600 Mhz processor . . you will need to bump memory up to at least 256 Mg preferably 512 . . and upgrade the BIOS to the newest version

This is a great guide for reinstalling on a Dell:  http://www.djdenham.com/Install%20Procedures.htm

The memory suggestion is relatively accurate, although 384 MB works fine.  XP Pro works very well with a 450 or 500 MHz processor, but you may note a substantial performance gains if you use the "Adjust for best performance" option in System Properties - Advanced tab - Performance.

The recommendation to use at least 256 Mg preferably 512 does not seem inconsistent with the statement that 384 will work. . .

On a range of 450 to 3000 Mhz processors, the statement that 600 Mhz is near the borderline does not seem inconsistent . .

The reccomendation to use the "Adjust for best performance" option in System Properties  is a very good one.
