Hi
Did you try remove SP 3 and see if that is the problem?
I have not read anything on this subject .
Or you upgrading to Vista Business or Ultimate ?
The upgrade Assistant DVD may need XP SP2 because SP 3 was not out when
you got the DVD!

Is there a way to remove SP 3 without Re-installing Windows XP as I think this is most likeley the problem. I never thought about the DVD being out of date.
Im upgrading to Windows Vista Home Premium.

OOPS
You say you are upgrading to Vista Home Premium from XP Pro
XP Pro has to be upgraded to Business or Ultimate that may be the problem also .
Or you sure you have upgraded this way before ?

Hi
You go to control panel then to add and remove
at the top of the page to view updates check that box
then look down the list you will see windows XP service 3
click on it and it shows remove go from there .
i have never removed it so i do not know what happens after that !
Good Luck

Its ok I uninstalled it, and the DVD worked.
There seems to be no problem upgrading to Home Premium from XP Pro.
It upgraded fine and im now using Vista perfectly. It seems to work better than it did last time.
