Yes, but you should update your BIOS to the latest available before upgrading and plan on at least 256MB RAM. Check the Windows XP Upgrade Advisor here to see what hardware and software you are currently using will not be supported under XP.

You can do a clean install of XP with an upgrade CD and a clean install is strongly recommended rather than an upgrade over your existing operating system.

I had a Dimension L 800 that I upgraded to XP Home a year ago. Just hunt down all the drivers you might need first. One thing I was very happy to see was that XP had the drivers for the Intel chip. That really made the upgrade a snap. I gave that comp to a friend of mine 3 months ago and it's still running fine.
