Upgrading from 32bit to 64 bit Vista
I would like to put the 64bit version of Vista on my laptop but cant seam to find a way to get the media. When I enter my Windows key into the order form on Microsoft's site, it tells me that key is invalid.
Does Dell offer a way to get the media?

Hi zepart949, Your better off giving Dell support a ring HERE, if you live in the US. If you live outside the US, then you will have to give your local support a ring.

I just got off the phone with Dell. They told me that it would cost $220 for the media.
So why is that Dell charges $220 and Microsoft is only changing for shipping? And on that note, why won't Microsoft sell me the media? They told me that as an OEM install, I have to go though Dell.

Hi zepart949, Sorry to hear about that. You must be the first person Dell has asked for money, everybody else who went through this forum were getting it for nothing. :emotion-12:I know Microsoft were giving away the 64bit, if you had the retail 32bit, because i got a copy.

I just got off the phone with Dell again, and they are shipping me the disks for free. They should be here tomorrow. :emotion-2:

Hi zepart949, Have asked around about the price. If your system is not under warranty, then Dell will charge. Thanks to Dave50

Hi zepart949, Nice one, remember you have to do a clean install.
