USB controller problem

Question

My 13in 1 media card reader won't play a SD media card.  MY COMPUTER  doesn't show any removable disks at all. Device manager  USB controllers shows 'unknown device'. clicking on properties i get this message-'no drivers installed for this device'.  I'm lost as to where to find the drivers and install them. I have a drivers and utilities CD. can i use that,or can i just install whatever drivers from this support site?    The card reader was just replaced by Dell.     Any help would be appreciated. thanks

Sorry, Dim E310, 3.2 gig pentium,1gig ram,160 gig hard drive.. Windows XP sp-2.  Dell sent a Tech to replace the card reader today.,but the problem still exists.    I tried the memory card that i had inserted in the card reader,in my camera and printer and they worked o.k.
