User Account Control

I have Vista Ultimate 32 bit and lots of problems with User Account Control which I have turned off as I have concluded it is just a nuisance.  It blocks McAfee Security Centre windows from displaying content, removes action buttons from websites such as internet banking and other secure https sites.  Do other have similar problems and have they overcome them?

Disabled also, useless, imho

This is what I did to make Vista act more like XP

3 things happen when you do.

1. Everything runs in Administrator mode, another blessing, makes most older XP programs run without issues. (not all)

2. UAC is disabled, Oh yeah.

3. IE7 protected mode is turned off.  run good anti malware and AV software.

I set up both of my Vista machines the same way.

I agree with you 100%. That is how I have Vista set up on my machine. Programs work like they are suppose too. I don't have problems with file association's not sticking or programs not saving their settings and other annoyances.
